Shabana asks council to look again at children's centre closure

Shabana has written to the Council to ask them to look again at cuts to Children's Centres:

Re: Closure of Children's Centres across the City

Dear Pip Mayo

I am writing regarding the proposed closure of a number of Children's Centres in the City, three of which are in my constituency.

I would like to urge you to think again about the centre at Six Ways in Aston. I have received many representations from constituents stating how valuable they find the service. It is located within one of the most deprived parts of the country - this neighbourhood (LSOA) is one of the top 2% most deprived parts of England. In total 2,705 children are served by this centre and I would question whether the next nearest centre could cope with the increased size of catchment area.

I look forward to your response.
