Shabana Mahmood MP has today welcomed the decision by the council to put down double yellow lines on Rupert Street in Nechells. Shabana took up the case after residents contacted her at one of her regular advice surgeries. Shabana held a residents' meeting on Rupert Street and scores of residents came along to explain what the problem was.
Shabana said, "I am delighted to see that the Council has listened to our concerns. It was clear from my site visit that the anti-social parking on the pavements was causing real difficulties for many residents especially those in wheelchairs and pushing buggies. The new double yellow lines will definitely be a help and make the road safer for people here."
