Local MP Shabana Mahmood is encouraging people in Birmingham Ladywood to get involved with the annual Your UK Parliament Awards. The awards celebrate the brilliant work carried out all over the UK by individuals and organisations who are making a difference to their communities, or who promote democratic action. Whether it’s hosting a debate for a campaign, promoting community engagement, taking action on an issue you care about or sharing information with the local community, nothing is too big or too small.
Nominations for the awards are now open, with people able to nominate a local person, organisation – or themselves! There are 7 different award categories to be chosen from, including community work, digital campaigns and school of the year. The closing date for applications is on January 31st, and more information about the different categories and how to apply can be found on the Your UK Parliament website.
Shabana Mahmood MP said:
“Our amazing community here in Birmingham Ladywood is full of brilliant individuals, organisations and schools who have been working hard to make a real difference to the local area.
“2020 has been a tough year for many of us. But in the face of adversity, we have seen the best of Birmingham. The Your UK Parliament Awards offer an opportunity for us to celebrate these positive actions being carried out in our community.
“I couldn’t be prouder of everyone and that is why I want to encourage people to nominate individuals or organisations for these prestigious awards.”
