Shabana has spoken during a debate on the Trade Bill to support the Lords Genocide Amendment.

The amendment deals with trade agreements made with states accused of committing genocide, ensuring that the Government cannot strike trade deals when there is a risk of human rights abuses being committed through supply lines.

It follows Shabana’s work to highlight human rights abuses in China’s Xinjiang province against the Uighur Muslim population.

The amendment was rejected with a slim majority.
