Shabana has received a response from the Department for Education after writing regarding refunded free school meals vouchers.

Shabana was recently contacted by a local primary school, where some parents free school meals voucher codes expired and could not be reclaimed. This prompted an enquiry to the Department for Education about how many vouchers were unclaimed and refunded.

In her response, Vicky Ford MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Children and Families, explains that 5% of vouchers were refunded to the Department.

That equates to 1 in 20 available vouchers not being used.
