“The Government is looking into the possibility of tougher licensing regulations for shisha lounges following campaigning from a Birmingham MP and councils.

“Shabana Mahmood MP, Labour MP for Birmingham Ladywood, has been campaigning for stricter rules due to concerns from residents about noise nuisance, crime, and antisocial behaviour.

“The Local Government Association (LGA) which represents councils has also called for an expansion on the activities that councils can license in relation to shisha lounges.”
