Shabana has asked the Treasury to step up and stand by leaseholders being charged extortionate sums for their buildings insurance. 

The intervention came during Oral Questions to the Treasury. In her comments, Shabana criticised the Government and the Financial Conduct Authority for their reluctance to intervene.

In response, the Government claimed it was now engaging with industry, despite concerns over insurance being raised over many years.
