More than 120 residents have been evacuated from Brecon Tower in Ladywood due to flooding overnight.

Speaking after news of the evacuation, Shabana Mahmood said:

“I was deeply concerned to hear about the evacuation of Brecon Tower due to flooding this week.

“I’ve been in contact with officials at Birmingham City Council to ensure residents are receiving adequate support on the ground.

“I want to see residents safely back in their homes as soon as possible.

“Once that’s happened, it’s only right that there is a full investigation to work out who was responsible for the flooding, and to make sure it doesn’t happen again.”
