Shabana Mahmood Member of Parliament for Birmingham Ladywood
Shabana has visited Percy Shurmer Primary School in Balsall Heath to meet pupils and teachers.
The school is recognised as one of the best in Birmingham, with an ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted rating.
The Balsall Heath West area is new to Birmingham Ladywood parliamentary constituency, after boundary changes at the last election.
During her visit, Shabana received a tour of the school from pupils and answered questions about her work.
Speaking after the visit, Shabana said:
I don’t know what’s more scary – standing behind the despatch box in the House of Commons answering questions from the opposition, or getting grilled by pupils here at Percy Shurmer Primary School in Balsall Heath!
This school has been recognised as one of the best schools in the city, and I’m so delighted their home is part of my new Birmingham Ladywood constituency.
As someone who grew up only 10 minutes down the road, went to a local school, and is now serving in government – I want students here to aim high and be the leaders of the future.
