Shabana has celebrated a pay rise for more than 32,000 Brummies in the latest Budget.

The budget, delivered by the Chancellor Rachel Reeves last week, is the first Labour budget in 14 years.

Amongst the announcements, an increase to the National Living Wage and the National Minimum Wage mean a boost to the pay packets of the lowest paid workers.

Further budget benefits for Birmingham include:

  • A £470 boost for those receiving the state pension.
  • No increases to VAT or income tax.
  • A £1billion extension of the Household Support Fund.
  • £1billion to remove dangerous cladding.

Speaking after the budget, Shabana Mahmood said:

After 14 years of Tory failure, this Labour budget is fixing the foundations and delivering change for Birmingham Ladywood.
