The Housing Ombudsman has ruled in favour of two Birmingham Ladywood residents after intervention by Shabana Mahmood MP.

The cases were referred by Shabana to the Ombudsman after Birmingham City Council refused to take action.

In one case, a resident was living amongst rats for over 18 months, with the council refusing to treat the block in Highgate for pests.

In another, damp and mould had hospitalised a young boy at a property in Ladywood.

Payments totalling more than £4,500 have been made to two families.
