Shabana Mahmood Member of Parliament for Birmingham Ladywood

Speaking after the news that Birmingham City Council have signed a developer agreement with Berkeley St. Joseph for the regeneration of central Ladywood, Shabana Mahmood MP said:
I welcome the news that Birmingham City Council has finally signed a partnership agreement with Berkeley St Joseph to deliver the Ladywood regeneration scheme.
It ends a nearly two-year period of uncertainty, where residents have been stuck in limbo and unable to plan for the future.
What follows must be a scheme that puts the community in Ladywood at its heart, with the voices of residents, businesses, and organisations who call this neighbourhood their home at the centre of the conversation.
Commitments on a residents charter, a full engagement programme, and clear communication channels are a step in the right direction. It’s now up to the council and the developer St Joseph to deliver on their promises.
My support for the project remains conditional on the basis that the council does not step over my red lines.
I will not stop fighting for residents who have laid down roots and made Ladywood their home.
