Shabana Mahmood has demanded an independent inquiry into prisons following yet another disturbance in HMP Birmingham in Ladywood constituency over the weekend. Shabana’s question to the Minister was:

“The Minister will be aware of the serious disorder at HMP Birmingham in my constituency on Sunday which follows the very serious riot that took place in December last year and serious incidents at other prisons across the country over the summer months. Clearly our prisons are in absolute crisis, isn’t it time we had an independent inquiry into the state of our prisons”
