Shabana Mahmood MP has expressed her support for local small businesses in Birmingham Ladywood, encouraging all constituents to shop local in the lead-up to Christmas.

With the Covid pandemic, its associated lockdowns, restrictions, and challenges, many small businesses have faced an incredibly difficult year, and Small Business Saturday (5 December) is a chance to celebrate small businesses in our community and remind ourselves of the important role they play in local life.

Shabana Mahmood MP said:

“Our small businesses have faced an incredibly difficult year and while I’ve heard from so many who have been struggling. It’s also been great to see those who’ve been able to adapt their models to operate online, as well as the way that many local businesses have helped to support the most vulnerable in our community throughout this crisis.

“Small businesses are such an important part of our local community life with the role they play in providing employment, products and services, supporting the local economy, and ensuring that our high streets remain vibrant and busy.

“We are facing a very different festive period this year – but I would like to encourage all constituents to use our local small businesses for their Christmas shopping to ensure that they are still there once this crisis has passed.”
