Shabana met with Tracey Crouch MP to discuss fans concerns around BCFC

It was fantastic this week to meet with the former Sports Minister, Tracey Crouch MP, who led the Fan-Led Review, in order to raise the concerns of Birmingham City Fans. We discussed the concerns of fans regarding the ownership of the club as well as the unacceptable delays to the stadium repairs.  I recently asked the English Football League to intervene in a potential takeover bid by Laurence Bassini  – if that bid will progress remains to be seen. I will keep pushing the Government and the League to do more to safeguard the club’s proud 147-year history.

I have been grateful for the information fans have shared with me regarding their dissatisfaction with the club. I am now trying to collect more information on how fans perceive the club and what can be done to put things right. If you are a blues fan or just have concerns about the way the club is being run – please fill in our survey here and share it with your friends and family!

Next week, the Mobile Household Recycling Centre is coming to a couple of locations in Ladywood. Make sure you head down to Osler Street on Thursday 7th July or Dixon Road on Friday 8th July between 07.00am and 12.00pm. The centre can take bulky household items and additional recycling ensuring less dumped rubbish ends up on our streets. There are some exceptions such as fridges, large appliances, and building materials so please do check before bringing your items to the centre.

Families in Ladywood are reporting a surge in antisocial behaviour, leaving people afraid in their own communities. Over the last 12 years policing has been cut by a Conservative Government to the lowest level in a generation. The services meant to prevent crime from happening – youth clubs, community centres, bobbies on the beat – have vanished. I’m working with my colleagues in Parliament to put community safety at the top of the agenda, and pressure the Conservative Government to reverse their disastrous cuts to policing. Look out for a letter from me in coming weeks with an update on community safety and small things we can do closer to home to deter criminals on our doorstep.

Have a great weekend, everyone.
