Shabana joined volunteers in Stoke last week, campaigning ahead of the local elections

Instead of my usual weekly round-up of my activity in Westminster and in Birmingham Ladywood, I thought I would highlight some of my work as the Labour Party’s National Campaign Coordinator as we head towards local elections on the 4th of May.

I am part of Keir Starmer’s Shadow Cabinet working as the National Campaign Coordinator for the party.  This year’s local elections are really important. There are more than 8,000 seats up for election across England. We must show voters that Labour offers the change our country needs and will focus on issues that really matter to voters.

Over the last couple of weeks I have been all over the country talking to voters about Labour’s plan to build a better Britain – from Stoke to Leeds to Erewash – with more travel planned for the last few weeks of the campaign.

The local elections are taking place on 4 May, make sure you bring along your voter ID. If you are keen to get involved in campaigning, please sign up to an event near you today: https://events.labour.org.uk/

Finally I want to wish everyone a happy and healthy Eid-al-Fitr. However you celebrate, from my family to yours Eid Mubarak!
