Launching her Tower Block Survey, sent to hundreds of residents across Birmingham, Shabana Mahmood said:

“The rising cost-of-living, the huge rise in HMOs and supported accommodation, and fly-tipping in our neighbourhoods are all issues you’ve been raising with me.

“We’ve made some real progress working together: the mobile household recycling centre has been deployed across our neighbourhoods, we’ve secured a licensing scheme for rented properties in Birmingham to drive out the rogues, and my team have provided cost-of-living advice for residents.

“But I know that those living in tower blocks, whether that’s as a council tenant or an owner occupier, face unique challenges that require a different response.

“I’m keen to understand the problems residents in tower blocks are experiencing and want to work with residents to put things right.”
