It’s been a busy week as Labour’s National Campaign Coordinator, in the run up to two important by elections taking place in Uxbridge and Selby and Ainsty. I travelled up to Selby to meet the local campaign team and hit the doors with our fantastic candidate!

I also spent a couple of days campaigning up in Scotland with the Rutherglen CLP and Scottish Labour teams. We got a great response on the doors talking to voters across the constituency.

Shocking new data this week revealed that free-to-use ATMs slashed by a third in Birmingham Ladywood. This reduction creates cash deserts in communities who depend most on non-digital payments for day-to-day spending. While I’m pleased to see the Government finally following Labour’s lead and pledging to protect access to cash in law – their last-minute change of heart doesn’t go far enough. Labour would empower the FCA to protect in-person banking services, ensuring no-one is cut off from the services they need. I had a fantastic evening at an Eid Celebration event in Keir Starmer’s office. It was brilliant to meet so many Muslim business owners and community leaders. It really highlighted the amazing contribution they make to their local communities across the country. The event was a great reminder of the special bond between our community and the Labour Party, as well as the importance of diversity and strong interfaith work to our movement.

I hope everyone has a good weekend!
