Speaking to launch the campaign, Shabana Mahmood said:

“I’ve lost count of the amount of times a rogue landlord has set up shop on a quiet residential street in my constituency leaving residents to suffer the consequences.

“Dodgy landlords are cramming vulnerable tenants into hostels and HMOs not fit for human habitation, leading to increased crime and dumped rubbish filling up the streets.

“This Conservative government has been too slow to act, so I’ve been campaigning for years to put things right.

“It’s not been easy taking on the supported housing giants and cowboy landlords, but I’ll always side with Brummies over those profiting from the misery of vulnerable people.
