Shabana Mahmood has launched her campaign to be re-elected Member of Parliament for the new Birmingham Ladywood constituency.

Speaking at an event at the Hive Cafe in Birmingham, Shabana pledged to put Birmingham’s voice at the heart of the next government.

The event was attended by Birmingham historian Carl Chinn and West Midlands Mayor Richard Parker, who both gave Shabana their full endorsement for re-election.

Speaking at the launch, Shabana Mahmood said:

“I was born and brought up in the heart of our city. Representing the place where I grew up for the past fourteen years is the honour of my life.

“For fourteen years, I have been a fearless voice in Westminster fighting for our community.

“Now, for the first time, Labour could win this election and I could represent us in government too – giving you all a seat at the table.

“I’ll put Birmingham’s voice at the heart of the next government.”
